Glasspacks

i had one on my 90 2.9 and i didnt really notice anything inside the cab. i had to stand beside my tailpipe to hear the gurgling.

I made the mistake of having it dump 4 inches behind the cab. That was really freakin loud.

I had a glasspack on the 2.9, and it was pretty quite, then went to a flowmaster 44 still to quite, then i went straight pipes, oh yeah!! LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES

I got a flowmaster 40 on my 93 3.0 and it sounds like a v8 at idle but above 2400 it gets that signature glasspack like growl. It sounds really mean. and i checked it, it says flowmaster on the case

I had an 18 inch glasspack on my 86 ranger and it didnt sound ricey at all :)

i have a magnaflow XL muffler on my 4.3........................chevy....................and it sounds like a flowmaster at an idle, but got the glasspack sound when revved. i really like it. it isnt ricey at all. it almost lopes at an idle i love it. sounds like a 350 at an idle

i also has a glasspack on my 2.3, and it didnt sound to bad with piping going all the way out the back

I agree with most that glasspacks usually sound best on V8's.

Keep in mind that some glasspacks have a straight through, perforated core(cherry bomb) and some have a semi baffled core (purple hornies).
I ran a semi baffled purple hornies on a slant six and it sounded good.

Someone told me they would sound better on a old skool car or hotrod. I really dont know Im just saying what I heard. I just got a flowmaster muffler and I love it. sounds mean but not annoying.

Back in winter I did this to my 2.3. 18" long 2.5" diameter. Muffler has since broken in nicely. It's not ridiculous till WOT which I hardly ever do.

Sorry if the pics are huge.. I have no idea how to resize them using the photobucket img code.

IMO they sound GREAT, I have a 2.5in x 26 on mine, I love it, nice low rumble, and not overly loud, just a great tone, I had a glasspack on my old explorer to, I love them. IT sounded like crap on my Dodge Ram though, Flowmasters sound great, but they flow like shit. Performance wise, a glasspack will give you more power. And on the 4.0 ohv they sound great, IMHO.
