The best Ford forum period! I'm Master Sergeant Gary L. Collins, USAF(Medically Retired) 21 year plus served on active duty. I've been retired 14 years and 360 days. Time still flies by if you're a total disabled veteran that is forced to limited physical activity due to full body pain caused by the Anthrax Vaccine that I was forced to take or walk away after 15 years and a Master Sergeant with a wife and two kids. I trusted in the Air Force and boy was I wrong. I received 2 to 5 bad doses that contained an illegal additive to cause you to become immune faster and wasn't approved by the FDA to use on humans. The government had a new vaccine that needed to be tested and where else were they going to get guinea pigs? The US troop that's where. The troops wouldn't know it and some will get sick and some will die; this is the price of being in the military. You have to be willing to give your life. I'm really scared of getting the COVID-19 virus since I have stage 3 kidney failure along with a compromised immune system. I've been out one time since early March. I went to a body shop for an estimate. I shouldn't have taken the risk, but tried to keep my distance and washed my hands after leaving.

I have a broken B3000 that has a brown head gasket and probably other internal problems. I heard noise from the bottom rear once before it broke. It was a junk yard motor anyway after my cam synchronizer broke or oil pump went at 75 mph. I pulled off the Interstate and listen to the motor it sounded good so I just figured the oil pressure sending unit wasn't working. I took off again got up to about 70 mph and it started missing real bad and pulled over again and turned it off. It was screwed this time and lessen learned. Got towed to the nearest mechanic and he threw the junk yard engine in there with 125 mph with using old gaskets. It barely made it back to my home and the only thing he did right was recharge the AC when he hooked it back up. Every time I called he wouldn't answer the phone. Two hundred miles away and not worth the time since he only charged $600.00 for remove and replace. I called and asked about the gaskets etc, that he needed in the install and they said it all included in the $600.00 lesson learned. I tore the top end off and replaced all gaskets and can sync, idle control valve, throttle sensor, etc. It ran like top until it started losing antifreeze. I fixed one leak and the internal leak I couldn't see but noticed in the oil after the head gasket gave up.

I want to put a taurus engine in there this time and sell it. I already paid 2 grand on the last replacement. I just need to know what years I can use? I have a 1999 Flex-Fuel V code(of course). What I've read is any 2 code and the newer the best. I look forward to this project. I'm only switch things over to the taurus engine. I can't pull and install. I'm not able nor do I have the engine hoist. I'm an internet mechanic; retired Air Force Master Technical Instructor, medical equipment and radar repairman, civilian HVAC, and mechanical engineering technician.

Thanks in advance!

A special thanks to all my veteran brothers who welcomed me back. SgtSandman, I loved the quote that only two defining forces ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ died the most painful death ever so that our sins can be forgiven. To those that don't believe; I pray for you every day. Jesus Christ's life and death and resurrection then accession to heaven is the great story ever told. I request that you do some reach on the internet about life of Jesus and if you read enough you will have questions that will make you want to learn more. Watch some Billy Graham preaching and go to the Church of your choice to learn more and in the end I hope you find Jesus to be your Lord and Savior. I couldn't imagine dying without Jesus. It's all about faith. I would rather die with Jesus than without.

The greatest gift that anyone can give another is to give your life for them. I'm inspired daily when I think about all the American G. I. s that have given the ultimate sacrifice for their Country or our Friends that needed our help. I believe this was written in WWI. " Freedom, we died for you. ... When you go home, tell them of us and say,: For your tomorrows these gave their today . I saw probably a few hundred of hero s who gave their life during the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars at the Port Mortuary at Dover AFB, DE. Along with the 9/11 Pentagon Flight 77 Airline attack passengers and members who worked at the Pentagon. They were all stacked on top of each other in the old mortuary. At first I tried not to focus on them; because I didn't want to think about what I saw later. I would just fix the x-ray machine or whatever and get out as fast as I could. After awhile I realized that these were all hero s on their way home and it was our job to get them there. Hero's are not to included the airline pilots who flew the plane into the Pentagon. I'm sure they were Al-Qaeda hero's but of course our enemy.

Thank you for your service :)

Welcome back

You don't need to use a Flex Fuel 3.0l replacement engine, but you do need to use your current Flex Fuel injectors on any replacement engine unless it was also Flex fuel and has the larger injectors
Your flex fuel computer is programmed for these larger injectors, main difference in flex fuel engines, so the computer would set Lean codes if the smaller Gas Only injectors were used

Pretty much any 3.0l Vulcan engine can be used, from 1986 and up, they were last used in 2008 Rangers or Mazda B3000
Taurus and Sables did use them as well, but they also used the 3.0l DOHC engines, so don't just go by the 3.0l designation

The car 3.0l Vulcan's did use different head gaskets because coolant flow was different when engine was transverse mounted
If you were going to keep it I would change them to Ranger head gaskets
People haven't reported any over heating issue without changing the head gaskets, but............they ARE different

Yes, something like 2 MILLION Taurus's were sold from 1999-2007, last year for 3.0l Vulcan in a car
Many had the base model 3.0l vulcan

Welcome to TRS

much respect for the vulcan.

welcome back.
