getting a vehicle title...

I don't understand how people loose their titles... thats like losing your damn nose...

I don't know if I would put it that way........most Hollywood and NBA stars are missing part of their noses due to sniffing cocaine.

Yup im lost as to how ppl can lose it. it goes in your glove box and never moves. lol

depends on where you are-here the title is part of the insurance papers,and to transfer it a 'transfer of ownership' form must be filled out and signed by the current owner.it's a real pain to get papers for a vehicle that the owner has lost the title for and it hasn't been insured for street use in more than 5 years.motor vehicle branch does not keep records for longer than this,if you can't find the title papers,as far as they are concerned it does not exist.in this case,it cannot,under any circumstances that i am aware of,be registered.

Site is for registering a barn find (scooter I guess), but I used it to get a title on a motorcycle. I think the info on the site is for ANY type of vehicle. Hopefully you got a bill of sale at least too.

thanks guys. my cousin talked to the guy today. he said hes supposedly taking a day off work this week or next week to go to the dmv. lets hope hes not lying! haha

In Colorado if your title was found by a thief in the glove box they could sign it as the owner and take it to the DMV and retile it in their name. Then you have a hell of a time trying to get it back. Cause it doesn’t matter to the state as far as they are concerned you sold the vehicle That’s why out here you keep the title locked away preferably in a fire proof safe. Not the best government program.
