general a/c refill question

Since no one has mentioned, let me be the first one to tell you...:)

You should get a set of gauges on there to find out what's going on.
Thanks for keeping us all on an even keel snranger :)

Something like these:

And read the article 97RangerXLT posted above:
The reasoning behind a full Manifold Gauge set is that you can monitor the pressure both on the high and low side, plus fill from both high and low side when the engine is off, don't fill from high side while engine is running, bad things will happen like the refrigerant can exploding) but it is good to know what the pressures are on both sides of the compressor. extremely high pressures on the high side could mean something is blocking the line, or the pressures are not very different could mean a wore out compressor... I cover that and more in the above mentioned article.

the cheapo gauge that hooks up to the low side that you get at autozone with a a/c refill kit does not give you all of what you need, and you will likely end up messing up your a/c.

Online help can only help if you give, outdoor temp, low pressure , high pressure also, if you have a manifold set.

Thing is, few people understand how to read guages, they are a real conditions temperature pressure chart, at any pressure, there's a corresponding temperature or pressure to temperature. AC systems need to operate at certain parameters

yep, your pressures on both sides are completely determined by the outside ambient air temp. there should be a temp/ pressure chart in my how to that will give you that information.

Now y'all need a how to, on how to find/read the how to's!

Most people don't want to spend the money for a gauge set. Although "ACpro" toys are universally hated,
that's what "most" people are going to do because, everybody just wants to get by.
