Gen1 Side Mirror swap

I've got the standard flag mirrors on my '88 and want to change them for something other than the West Coast mirrors. Has anybody swapped for something that will screww in the same holes?

You can put F150 (88 or so, not the new plastics) mirrors or the ones from a Ranger...not sure if they're the same size, but I had them and decided to take them off...I like the flag mirrors on mine, but they can be floppy...so I put a zip tie around the base where the square part meets the mount and they don't flop any more...

Also interested in this thread but I want to mount the new ,"Pull-Out"feature the full size mirrors have for towing a trailer. My vehicle is a 2001-extended cab.

Not trying to Hy-jack the thread.

I think I wrote half of the flag mirror fix page in the tech library (like 11 years ago), I've been running the same flag mirrors that I fixed back then without issue, if I was to do it again I would drill and tap for a 8-32 screw/bolt instead of the sheet metal screw, but it works...

for the record, these mirrors have survived once flipping the truck on it's drivers side, and one and a half complete rolls in sand without breaking, still hold at freeway speeds, I think I've taken them off once to tighten the screws...

I picked up 2 new replacement flag mirrors from my local Pep Boys for $20....... I did the fix on the old ones, but the glass on the mirrors was scratched up pretty good......
