thanks for the input, i might consider it down the road some time... like if i ever go with two subs in the back, and need the entire rear shelf.. then i will get rid of the 6x9's and put something in the doors that fit in the little vent thing i have there.

dont put them in that vent thing. they sound like crap. the sound hits the seat and gets muffled.

there is some seperation... but are you suggesting there isn't enough space for the sound to get spread out before it hits the seats? if so, i'll take your word.. just trying to clarify... i just wasn't so sure about cutting my door panels...

maybe i could put some LED's in the vents... tie them into my sub wiring or something like chevelle kid did... that was pretty sick. if i remember right, you just tie one of the lights to your negative wire, and the other light to your positive right? and they light up corresponding to the music?

yea trust me, i ruined my door panels because i put my first speakers where the vent is and it sounded like total crap. the sound was muffled, and it was distorted. so i cut my panels and put 6x9s under the window cranks and some crappy 4s in the dash and wow. for a crappy setup it sounded really nice. but now that chevelle kid hooked me up with new door panels. im gonna run 6.5 comps in the doors where the 6x9s used to be. then, since im running 66 'stang seats, run 6x9s behind the seats for a little more bass. i dont wanna run a sub or anything. im thinking rockford fosgate or mtx.

Agreed on the vents...
if your gonna do it... just cutem... unless you fab up some kind of spacer to fit over the vent and seal it correctly.... if you do that your not messing your panels up...

i can just cut.. it's probably not as "scary" as i think it would be.

the project is delayed a week or so...

my truck is in the shop getting body work done from the accident, if you can call it that, i had last thursday.

lady in my school parking lot drives a stick, obviously forgot to put her e-brake on.. so while i was lifting for football, someone comes in and tells me that somebody hit my truck...

long story short, she doesn't want to turn it into insurance, which is fine... idc bout that... but she sucks at returning phone calls

she will have a bill of $344 getting turned over to her through her insurance if she doesn't get smart and return my phone calls...

also, there are multiple small rust spots along wheel wells, and the rear corners of my door pockets that i am gonna get fixed for another 300 bucks... worth it, because i don't want them to get worse, and end up causing real damage...

just thought i would update everybody... i was really ready to get going on it this week too :(

Something always goes wrong...

No matter what i do anyways lol!

No Worries... just imagine soon you will have a clean body and sound system lol

haven't posted on here in forever because nothing has gotten done.. and i'm mad about it, but i have nobody really to blame besides myself. i just have been insanely busy lately... took a video of my dash speakers not too long ago.. thought it looked pretty cool so here it is. might try and wire my amp wiring kit today! ya i know... big stuff :icon_rofl:

song is by gorilla zoe - shawty
i feel like it hits pretty hard... it's a nice song

personaly i would say try to keep it on the passenger side if possible but your kit should have came with like 17 feet of 4 gauge so in my head it would work. but if you really want to use that hole just drive into it a hole that is just barely bigger than the wire and then use some sort of sealant such as caulk and go around the wire. and if you wanted to you could just put the amp under the seat cause you should have enough room under there and then you wouldn't be bringing the wire back to the passenger side of the truck. just some thoughts and ideas that are floating round my head right now.

i have finally made some progress though!
got my entire amp setup wired
*power wire hooked to battery and ran through engine compartment, through firewall, and to the back of my truck (need to route it under my carpet, but don't even start me on that, it's a whole 'nother story)
*RCA's ran from back of my headunit, routed behind dash and through to the back
*remote turn on from back of my headunit, need to get this under the carpet as well

I will be using my school shop after this week (Thanksgiving Break) so I will try to make final design plans for my box...

I'm still really stuck as to if I should go sealed or ported.... I like to show off (who doesn't?) so rap music is a must.... but i listen to some regular pop and rock as well too (not too much metal and stuff though)

So I am thinking I will want to go ported... Do I really need to worry that much about the air space that the port tube uses? Also say i am using the specified length of PVC tubing (PVC tube is okay for a port right?), do I just drill a hole to let the tube fit and then seal it with caulking after?

Do I need to worry about how I assemble my box? Like do I need to put the "face" part of the box on last or whatever? I don't want to have to end up having to redo this box! So I am willing to spend extra time making sure I put enough screws in, wood glue between boards, sand alll the wood glue down smooth, silicon sealent the edges and corners so there are no leaks, etc.

Any opinions?
