I have a 1999 ford ranger with the 3.0l engine and the 7.5 rearend. I just lifted and put on some 33's. I'm pretty sure 4.88 are as deep as I can go with the IFS front, but I can't seem to find 4.88 for the rear. Anyone know where I can get some. Also wondering if they make a powertrax no-slip for the 7.5. Any info would be great.

you can find 4 88s just about anywhere...look for yukon gears, theyre the best. Heck, you can buy 4 8ss on teh site here. Dont forget master install kits for both ends. You may want to upgrade to an 8.8 though...just a suggestions.

Still not having any luck. This site is like other places they have 4.56 and 5.13 for the 7.5 but no 4.88. Ill keep looking. Anyone know anything on the no-slip?

That's because 4.88 isn't available for the 7.5". Swap to an 8.8". It's a better axle anyway and bolts right in (look for one from any '93 & up truck).

No sense in dumping money for gears and a locker for the 7.5" axle. Start with a better platform that isn't going to snap axleshafts. Either a ranger 8.8 or explorer 8.8 31 spline with disc brakes.

Thanks for The replies. Ill start looking for an 8.8. is it really hard to find one that is 31 spline from an fx4?

if you find one its kind of like catching a leprechaun at the end of a rainbow....so yes.

It's not the axleshafts that break all that often (they are the same shafts anyway unless you get a 31 spline 8.8)

The carrier & spider gears tend to be the weaker links on a 7.5".

Ok. Ill look around. Id really like to put a 31 spline 8.8in.

I'll sell you an 8.8 if you come get it.

Its over a 2,000 mile drive. So I think I could buy a used truck and steal the rear end out of it for the same price as what gas would cost for me driving there.

Okay so I found a couple 8.8's. Which would be better getting an Fx4 31 spline with the torsen and reagear it to 4.88 (yes I found one) or get a regular 28 spline 8.8 regearing it to 4.88 and then putting a powertrax no slip in? The fx4 one is about $475 while the other ones about $200.

Fx4. Was it easy to find?
