what gear ratios and diferential does the 2.5 1999 ranger brings? 5spd manual:icon_confused:

if you look on your door tag it should give you an axle code. you can then look in the tech libray an figure out the gear ratio.. but chances are it prolly has 3.73s..

bad thing is that the door was damaged( salvage car) so they "fixed it" and painted the whole thing, i believe the door tag too, im not sure will have to check. does the owners manual give this info? cuz i have it.
thanks anyway!! :)

There should be a metal tag on one of the rear diff. bolts that will tell you also.
Write it down and look in the tech section. :icon_thumby:

Yup check that tag, pay attention to the numbers on the second row or lower row of the tag cuz those will be the ones telling what gears and axle you have, I would assume 7.5 and maybe 4.10s or 3.73s

oo ok i will check there.
i have noticed that when driving in mud it slips less than the other ranger we have, a 93 2.3 5spd. is this because of the diferential being different or just because mine has 225/75R15 and my mom has 225/75R14?? its almost the same tire pattern, but mine has a bit more control when driving on slippery mud, the tail seems to be more controled than in the other ranger. we use 'em to play some mud when going to our farm lol!!

If worse comes to worse, you can pull the diff cover and count the teeth on the ring (it should be stamped on there too) and divide by the teeth on the pinion.

Sounds like you have a limited slip differential in there.

mmm limited slip eh?? that would be grreat, i must check down there the tag u guys say to be sure. did this trucks came with limited slip diff from factory??
thanks!!

No, the limited slip has only been available with a V6 at least since '92 (probably even earlier).

That's not to say one hasn't been swapped in though.
