I need you rhelp guys. I have a '92 ranger with a 4.0 v6, auto tranny, andan 8.8 rear-end.

i bought the truck with 32" tires on it so i have no idea what the stock tire size was.

It currently has a 3.07 rearend ratio. I do mostly high speed "prerunner" style offroad driving, but there are those tight spots where i can tell i just need lower gears.

I was thinkin 4.10's or 4.30's would be a good choice. and my motor is spinnin about 2,200 rpms at 60 mph, in THIRD gear. it won't pull overdrive on the freeway.

thanx in advance,

-sean

If you're sticking with the 32s, I'd go 4.30.
If you think you might want to run 33s in the future, go with 4.56.

Welcome to the site.

if your curious, the sticker on your drivers door sill tells you what tires came stock on the truck. i'd guess something like 235/75/15's.

it says ihe truck can carry its max load rating with 235/75r15, but i don't think that was the original tire size on the truck....

i found it out just from discout tire that it either had

195/70r14's or 215/70r14's

damn thats tiny.

i'm not gonn go 33's ever with this truck. It'll eventually have 35's when its fully done-up prerunner.

but thats gonna come to the tune of about $25,000, which i don't have right now.

So 4.30's are gonna be my best choice then.

Thanx a bunch guys
