Why did they separately recommend Mercon for the M5ODs, and Mercon V for the Autos for 11 years then if they're the same (if V supposedly replaces non-V)? Something is very weird here![]()
At first Mercon and Mercon V were different and non-interchangable, then Ford decided to re-formulate Mercon V so that it would be compatible with all regular Mercon applications. A lot of people don't want to use regular Mercon anymore since there are no standards/specifications the oil companies have to meet, since Ford doesn't license it anymore. I'm gonna start using Mercon V in my power steering system that originally called for Mercon.
