My 98 supercab 4X4 4.0 sucks on gas milage. I have tried everything. I have tuned it up, new fuel filter, used injector cleaner. and the milage still sucks. anyone have any ideas?

Im very lucky to get 200 miles on a full tank of gas and the fuel tank holds about 18 gal.

Have you actually calculated your millage?

the maf sensor seem to be working ok according to the scan tool.the o2 sensors seem to be switching properly. and i changed the plugs and wires about a year ago and i used double platnium plugs.

yes p265/75r16. I wouldnt think it would kill the mileage that bad.

did you recalibrate your spedo? you could be as much as 5 mph off it will be reading slow therefor making it seem like your millage is that bad. what were you getting before you switched to oversize tires?

never had the speedo recalibrated. Im not sure what the milage was because when I bought the truck it already had 265/70r16 tires on it. I have noticed my speedo reads 5mph under what I am really going.

I have noticed my speedo reads 5mph under what I am really going.

so the odometer also thinks you are going less distance that you are really going...

FYI- my 02 Ranger 4x4 4.0 gets 17+ city, 18-19 highway and 15+ when carrying my plow. I'm running 245 75 16's. It's an automatic.

Would going from 245/75 R 16 to 265/70 effect my mileage as much as the guy running 265/75s?

I have a 04 4x4 auto and get around 16.5 in the city. I've had just about everything done to it except plugs, wires, and O2 sensors, but I've only got 50000 miles on it. Any suggestions.

Matt
