Gas Company Pissing Me Off!

When you own real estate, you own it "from the core of the earth to the highest of the heavens." The gas is yours, and they can't use eminent domain to get fuel out of the ground. That's so the government can take your house to build a road that is absolutely required or anything along those lines. A company can NOT use government power to make money.

And if this all goes through, yes, there's plenty of ways to make sure they don't make a single dollar on it. They all involve fire and explosives.

What did you do to get in trouble already?

It also doesn't make a lick of sense that they can use the town's water permit in order to run a damn gas line.

uhm, you know I am in trouble, and what for, so thats not an option, and I do NOT want to go to jail.

But as it is, we are literally F**ked. So we are able to keep he farm for MAYBE another year. If we are lucky.

They will pay us only what the value of the land was when we bought it, and we got all 138acres for $190,000 back in 2006 because we knew someone, and now the land is worth well over $300,000 on the market with over $5Mil in the ground. We own the mineral rights, and we are being kicked off our land to get it.

you own mineral right, and unless the buy that to they cannot drill, market value is just the surface rights to my understanding, therfore you can lease yur mineral rights to the company and they have to pay you a percentage to take the gas. i might be wrong, but to my understanding you own the surface and all below it

A big stink huh? How about a pair of my work socks wrapped in a rotting skunk?

Would that be a big enough stink for you?

Speaking from my parent's experience with this kind of thing (in our case it was a PP&L power line, not a gas line though) there are more ways to fight it than you think. For one thing, if you file a counter suit, which can take years to even see an initial hearing, they can't do ANYTHING until that suit is settled.

If you get enough of the community behind you then yeah, they will back down. Also, this DOES NOT fall under eminent domain laws. Eminent Domain HAS to be a public works thing. THIS doesn't count.

Also, I have seen your property, there are plenty of places besides right through the house and barns that a gas line could be run.

But in the end I agree. If all else fails, fire and explosives.

carty, ****wad that he is, used eminent domain to bulldoze people's houses and build a jeep plant in toledo a few years back.

then again, same dumbass that had people fined for parking in their own gravel driveways, so par for the course.

man, i'm glad i got out of ohio when i did.

Get used to the b/s. Few years ago in I think in Groton, CT they pulled that same stunt and forced a whole bunch of lower income people out of their homes using "Eminent Domain".

The people said flat out "NO" to being kicked off their property so the city could build up the area with new high end homes and such...(gets them higher property tax revenue)..

They lost...The city kicked 'em off..and then the market bottom fell out of the housing area.. I'm not sure where that tract of land currently is at? (as in...anything built there or not) But it was a huge violation of ownership rights!! And it got trumped in court.

Welcome to the Unites States of Corporate America. :icon_pepsi: I'm surprised they dint do the fireworks this year w/ tha citibank logo

You are gonna laugh, haha

Mom went down to the meeting of the Townships today, and the head of the Tioga EPA (or whatever) said he was a huge fan of our property, because he had grown up near the house when the original owner had it! XD

They cannot drill or put pipeline through our land BTW, they will NEVER be able to, there is an underground stream coming from a watershed on top of the hill that feeds my entire town!

haha!

All over =) me happy =) Everyone is on our side apparently, so all-is-good now

Teh land belongs to the Natives. The land you so proclaim to own is stolen loot.

Actually, my land was settled by the Dutch, not natives.
