On my 1986 Bronco II when i put my 4wd selctor into 4wd it blows the turn signal fuse. and the 4x4 light doesnt light up so im guessing that the wire for the light is grounding out. so could i just unplug the plug for the light on the transfer case to solve the problem?

Unplug the tell-tale sensor from the t-case, put a fuse in it, and try again.

I had a similar issue with my backup lights a few weeks ago. I unplugged parts of the backup light system until I put it up to change the oil and noticed a wire resting on the cat with the insulation burnt through.

unplug 4x4 light

i un plugged it and it did the same thing ? i have no idea and ive looked for a bare wire and havent found one yet and is there only one plug to the t-case?

Might be a shift motor. These things aren't exactly easy to nail down online.

shift motor

mine is a manual t case ,it isnt electrical

In my 87 BII, the #6 fuse for 4wheel drive indicator (and a few other things), is next to #5 fuse for turn signal and backup lamps. There could be a crossed or bare wire in this area, or in the harness nearby.... Might check. Where I am, we have some crazy little woodland rats that like to climb into our vehicles and chew wires.
I would start at the 4x4 wireing and trace back to fuse, since you know when you shift into 4x4 (the indicator light should come on via the 4x4 indicator switch) you end up blowing the fuse for turn signals. It stands to reason that if you open the circuit by removing the 4x4 indicator light, it should temporarily solve the problem. (I would do that myself just to see if it does).
If this proves to be the case, you are relatively sure it is on this circuit. THEN (still) you need to trace that circuit and find the short.
Could be wrong, but that is where I would start.

thanks ill check that wiring by the fuse panel hope this works
