Funniest Vehicle Fix or Repair

I smashed the front bumper on my old Corolla and it failed its safety inspection because of it. So me and my friend filled in some of the big gaps of missing bumper with plastic from something I bought earlier that day, and some of the cracks that where there were filled with toilet paper and then taped over..The car passed safety inspection the next morning :thefinger: Not as funny as your guys stories but its all I have so far haha.

haha! My frame on my truck passed because the frame was painted with cheap flat black to make it look solid XD and all the rust spots were covered with bondo haha!

Speaking of bondo, Brad and I came up with our own form, playdough+flour+water=instant-bondo!

In High School, my best friend warped the aluminum head on his Datsun 1600 roadster and blew a head gasket. We put the head on my dad's gas grill, got it as hot as we could, torqued it down and it held from then on.

1) Did a temporary fix to some corroded battery cables: attached them onto the terminals with bailing wire. Our farm mechanic was watching and he was amazed that he hadn't thought of that before. It's lasted a good three weeks without even budging, and I have to go over some pretty rough road each day checking irrigation.

2) I hit some dumb ass kid on the freeway after he cut in front of me and slammed on his breaks. The front of my truck was smashed in to the point i didn't want to be seen in it, so we tied a chain around the front bumper bracket, tied the other end to a tree, threw it in reverse, and make it look good as new. Took it into the shop later to have insurance pay to fix it up right, but that was about 5 months after "the fix."

This thread just gave me an idea. My step-brother is visiting, and is in law school so he never has any fun. I decided to take him shooting to play with my MP5-PK (shorty submachinegun) and my Model 96 Beretta. Afterwards, we went wheeling in the ol' Navajo and part of the trail has a creek crossing. I've been through here a thousand times, and know I can make it in 2wd if I pick the right path. Well, I had an energy drink earlier in the day so I was wound up tighter than a nun, and was going a little too fast. When I entered the creek, I bottomed the rear suspension which made my bumper snag on a rock and it bent up. This was yesterday. I started reading this thread and decided to go back out on another trail, and backed up into a tree in low range. Bent it right back where it's supposed to be!

Hit a deer (already dead and laying in the middle of the highway) with my SVO. Knocked the high presure fuel pump off the frame. 0400 in the morning and in the middle of nowhere. Scavanged a chunk of vaccuum hose from under the hood and a peice of bailing wire from a near by barbed wire fence. Got me to town!

About 3000' above the middle of nowhere.

I watched a friend break both front coil springs in his jeep (he uses a lot of skinny peddle) while we were on the trail. He spent the next few hours looking for 2 logs of the correct diameter. He used a chainsaw to cut them to the exact length and then cam strapped them in place of the springs. It had a solid front suspension with 0 articulation, but it got him out of the woods and back on his trailer.

I was on the ATV and driving through my swamp in the third field over across the street from my house, and I went through a final time and the ATV bottomed out and got stuck, it was teatering on a slump of mud under the swamp, so I gun it and get my back covered in mud, so I use the airhorn we put in the back of the ATV for such purposes.

Dad comes out with our neighbor's truck and it gets stuck ( a lifted 1989 Ford F100 Custom with 4wd and a very large v6), so dad goes out and gets our other neighbor, who brings his tractor.

We tie the tractor to the truck, and the truck to the ATV, all being about 20 yards apart, and start to pull, the tractor almost got stuck XD haha, it was funny as hell because it took us 3 hours to finish what took me all of 1 second to start!

Now the moral of this was: "drive over different spot if I get stuck again", bring tractor with me too"

For another one:

Our driver's rear window and side mirrors on our old Dodge Aries K-car would not stay up or on, so dad ducktaped the window shut and the side mirrors on, and since we lived in California, the heat melted the tape daily XD haha, we ended up trading it in to a dealership for $2000 down on a van for a friend, the dealership thought they were getting our friend's car (he said 2k down on any car, thinking that we were bringing that one in), and we got a phone call about 3 months later from the Long Beach police, saying they impounded our car. "sorry, but the dealership owns that car now".

They abandoned the car... it ran good, but was in terrible conditionin the inside, we could not SELL it to a junkyard XD

right before my buddy swapped out the 300 I6 in his F150 for a 302 he decided to "fix" it by draining the oil out and revving it WOT, when the motor didn't blow, they dumped sand in the oil fill, and tried again. still didnt kill it, then next morning the damn truck started right up, with one helluva knock though

i fixed a leaking radiator hose with electric tape, not as funny or epic tho.

Definately not epic. Any repair with bailing wire, duct tape is just par for the course.
