Funniest Repair Orders you've seen?

I really had to think about what comes with a DOHC I-6. Then I noticed the diff.

Wait when did the trailblazer have a straight 6 engine? The only ones I've ever seen had a V6 or a V8 I believe.

Ok, so I googled the engines for the trailblazer, I stand corrected. However apparently not built nearly as strong as the 4.0L I6 engines found in many Jeeps.

I've seen 4.2 I6s, 4.8 5.3 and 6.0 V8s in that platform. Never a V6.

Yeah I had to go do some research I always thought the base engines were the 4.3L Vortec V6. I didn't know it was an inline 6. Didn't think any of the major manufacturers were still using inline 6 engines anymore with the exception of the Cummins engines in the Dodge Rams.

Yeah, and it's actually a really good engine, with a very good power curve.

It'll out tow my 5.0 Explorer, pretty much dead even racing till the Ex pulls away around 60mph.

I say all this and this is the second 4.2 engine job we've had in the last 2 months. This one died due to neglect, look closely you'll see the burn sludge coating the cams, that plugged the oil pick up. The other one we did was due to the customer doing 5k intervals on $15 oil changes from a terrible local shop.

I see a lot of people neglect their vehicles and usually a blown engine or transmission failure is the result. With my very limited income I find it a lot cheaper on my wallet to just properly maintain my vehicles, less chance of a catastrophic failure.

yep, you can pay now, or you can pay later.

I hear so many people at work say things like "I don't need to change my transmission fluid. It's too dang expensive".

I sat down and figured this out once though, just to prove a point. If you change your oil every 5K miles at $24.95 and change your trans fluid at the 30K interval we recommend, across 30K miles you only spend about $20 more to change your trans fluid.

I think it's more like $30 now because we had to up our price on a trans flush because our cost for trans fluid went up. Still beats the crap out of a $6000 transmission.

I agree, transmissions and engines are expensive, and then if the person has to pay a shop to do the replacement the price goes up even more in labor fees.

I'll do the services on my Bronco 2 myself because there's nothing special about them, but I let the dealer do the services on my Toyota Tundra because everything in it is synthetic, and for $50 every 5,000 miles its not that bad of a deal really. It would cost me more to service it myself I think due to the cost of synthetic oil. Plus my dealer does a full service and vehicle inspection at the time so its kind of nice. The Bronco 2 is relatively easy to do oil/filter changes, differential fluid changes, and the tranny is manual so I don't do it quite as often as an automatic tranny, but I think before I get it out on the road doing any long drives with it I'll change the tranny fluid in it along with the differentials. I didn't do any of it initially because of all the engine troubles I was having I didn't feel like wasting anymore money on it if it wasn't going to be drive-able.

I should have the front end alignment, camber kit, and the wheel bearings done hopefully by the 18th of this month, I miss driving it.

Yeah, manual trans fluid doesn't need to be done nearly as often as auto fluid because it isnt sheared the same way and no clutching happens in the lubricated area of the trans. I usually just change it when I replace the clutch.

I work for the local locksmith shop. Had a customer come in on Friday with a broken key in her ignition. I couldn't figure out why my key extractor wouldn't run down the side of the key like it should. When I finally got the broken piece out the end was covered in super glue. She had tried to glue the pieces back together inside the ignition to pull the broken piece out.

Eh, I might have tried something similar with locm-tite.

I had a customer call in today and complain about lobsters in her driveway.

lol, that "remove cat" is a good one. Anyone hear work on AG or heavy equipment. My buddy works a Tormont and he always gets stuck working on the magot wagons. Im in an ag shop where one of our biggest customers is a company that spreads liquified shit. Fun stuff to work on.

Rather be working on (and do) stuff that is covered in cow slurry than human slurry ;)
