Fuel Tank

thank you!!!!!!

is it the same at the 93 ranger tank?

You try google? Or a junkyard? Or someone parting out their Ranger?

Dunno if my 1997 plastic tank (18 gal) would fit inside your 1993. I think its size also depends on options, like extended cab. My straps match "Spectra ST139" and they look different than 1993 tank straps.

Each of my straps are 1.75" wide flexible steel, and have a simple T-shaped "hook" on LH end and a bolt-hole on RH end. They attach to underside of frame crossmember #3 and #4, respectively.

where did you find a replacement?

did you replace it?

I had no need to replace it, so mine's original, temporarily removed (many times) for better access to frame/body.

Dealership parts guy told me last week that the roll-over anti-spill check valve atop the tank is no longer a separate part, and is now available only by purchasing the whole tank. Awk! So I siliconed my broken vent hose spigot onto that valve. I don't wanna buy a $$$ new tank.

more questions

I haven't actually taken my bed off or seen where it leaks, but from your photo I would have to say it leaks somewhere near the filler spout or sending unit then flows down then skid plate until it finds a place to leak onto the ground near the front. I say this because I can see the side of the tank in just that location and there seems to be a vertical line of fuel at that spot. To my wonderment is why it leaks at more than half full, but not below half full. I have been smelling fumes more and more recently. Is the end of the filler spout metal? Could fuel splashing around in the tank cause the leak or smell?

How difficult was it to take the bed off?

Sorry for the barrage of questions. I've been living this way for about 2 years now. I know it will have to be fixed soon.

P.S. I haven't noticed a leak when filling up to just below half a tank, and even almost to 3/4 tank. I haven't seen a full tank in years!!!

I think your problem is a cracked filler neck, not the tank. It's a very COMMON problem with these RBV trucks. See here: http://imgur.com/a/ggIFp or http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124535
The filler neck rubber hose leaks only when tank is rather full.

The filler neck is attached by 3 bolts around the gas-cap, and by a hose-clamp at the gas-tank. It's tricky to reach up from underneath, unless you loosen the bed bolts to remove the bed, or else lift the bed's front end upwards about a foot.
Bed is held by 6 bolts, shown here: http://i.imgur.com/zkEzyh.jpg
Bed removal discussion is here: http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134689
