I have a 1986 Ranger, 2.9L. with dual tanks. The selector switch will not switch the fuel system to the rear tank. There's power to the 6 port selector valve from the dash switch to the selected side of the selector valve as I move the switch. It just doesn't switch. I've looked at replacement valves but all I find are universal ones where the ports aren't in the same place. I want to get a direct replacement so I won't have to try to bend the hard plastic lines around on the new valve. Any one else familiar with this replacement? Do I cut the plastic lines and adapt with fuel hose?
Thanks for any help/ suggestions.
Terry

To add to what I already posted. With the vehicle running, changing the tank selector switch to the rear tank does not change anything. The truck continues to run, and the fuel gauge measures the level in the front tank. Unplugging the selector valve does nothing, the vehicle keeps running. All the switch does is switch voltage from the front to the rear tank at the selector valve plug in (red to brown wires). Terry

Dont know if this helps but on 84 w/carb I just replaced the selector valve w/ one from 83 f150. However on a F/I truck you may or may not be able to do this ,but its always a good excuse to hit the j yard.
