I didn't see a forum that fit, so I put it here, if it's the wrong spot, sorry!

I decided to pull off the truck bed in order to take a look at everything underneath (I'm fixing the brake lines, parking brake, and the fuel tank straps) and took the opportunity to inspect the stuff I now have a better look at. In the process, I noticed that my Fuel Tank Filler Line had a small crack on the exterior, though, I'm not sure if it goes all the way through, or there is an exterior sleeve, or whatever.

My question is, should I replace this or cover it up (with tape, putty, or something of that nature)?

I looked for the part on LMC, and brand new, it'd hit me up for 219.99 - I figure I'll go to a junkyard and find one that works, if I have to replace it. Is it worth replacing if everything is open, or can I just patch it and leave it until I see a visible problem? Your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

first of all, this is a common issue w/ rangers of this era. mine leaks if you top it off.

Ford wants almost 500 bucks for this damn part here in Fishers. Good luck finding one in a junkyard. every ranger that I have seen in the Junkyard has this part already gone or in horrible shape.

take a browse through this forum a few months back, there is one on ebay for about 65 bucks and another from a parts supplier for about 90..

My 90' Ranger used to leak when I topped it off, now it just leaks the whole time I fill it. I'd say replace it now before it gets worse. I'm going to replace mine shortly now that I found out I don't have to pay Ford a ton of money for a new one.
