fuel punp shut off switch

Does the pump turn on when you turn the key?

Do you have power going into the Pump?

If it is turning on, maybe a clogged fuel filter?

And don't forget what I said: "When inertia switches die for good the reset button quits working." Test to see if there is power being sent from the inertia switch on.

If all else fails, try a rubber mallet and whack the bottom of the tank a coupe times then try and start it.

Its sounding like a fuel pump tho...

you mentioned, "When inertia switches die for good the reset button quits working."

does that mean if my inertia switch is already in the on position, if I press the inertia switch reset button, it should click and reset itself.. or only if the inertia switch has been tripped, and it won't reset itself by trying to push the reset button, that the inertia switch is bad..

And don't forget what I said: "When inertia switches die for good the reset button quits working." Test to see if there is power being sent from the inertia switch on.

got power coming from the inertia switch, Have to check near the fuel pump, after it warms up a little ....maybe this weekend !

ok it seems to be the fuel pump, is there any way to use an external fuel pump
?? so I don't have to lower the tank and all that ???

The ECM relay has to also turn on before the fuel pump relay will supply power to the pump. It should be alongside the fuel pump relay. Try replacing the EEC relay with the fp relay you just took out.

Does the pump come on for a couple seconds when you first turn on the ignition key? You may have to listen thru the filler neck. If it does, you have other problems.:)shady

it was the fuel pump, I had a new one for a Grand am, that went to the bone yard before the pump was put in so I used that and all is well !!!
