There are two fuel pumps on this ranger ,one in the tank and one on the frame rail. I know the one on the frame is the pressure pump for the injected 2.9 Im installing a carburated 351 can I use just the in tank pump or do I just need to start with a regular electric pump? Thanks for the help

The lift pump in the tank will produce pressures in the proper range for a carbed engine, but the better course of action for the proposed setup is to remove the pump from the sender unit, replace it with a piece of pipe and run a mechanical pump.

I gotta ask though, why not just install an injected 351? Generally speaking it is less work to install an FI engine in a FI vehicle than to convert to carb. Also FI is just all around superior to carbs.

..........My wifes DD is a 95 mustang v6 that I put 5.0 in.,,,gt40p heads, trick flow stage one cam, edelbrock intake ,670 street avenger, the fuel pump is for a 1988 fuel injected 2.3 ranger(intank pump). It has been running fine for over a year now.

Thanks for the help, I already have a 351 out of my 67 F-100. going to use this platform to work out the bugs then a 393 is waiting in the wings.
