fuel pump question

i have a motor from and 85 mustang thats going in my bronco II. i already have everything i need to make it carbed except for the fuel pump and my question is this: what do i have to do to the motor to make it work with a mechanical fuel pump?

You will need to put a ecentric on the end of the cam. Thats what runs the pump. Not sure if I spelled it right.

How hard is that to install? I've never dug into and engine before and i'm going to use this swap as an excuse to. will i have to get a new timing cover for that?

They make low pressure electric pumps for carb'ed engines, which might be easier and cheaper to do.

If its a carb'ed motor it(ecentric) should already be on the cam.I have pulled a couple of them 85 T-body injected 5.0's apart and they also had the ecentric on them. If you timing chain cover has the fuel pump boss on it just pull the block off plate and look up in there with a flashlight and see if yours has it or not.

You'd need the inverted fuel pump from a '73' Econoline van to clear. Easier to go electric.

Ditto!!!!! Mr.gasket 12G is all the pump he needs.

hmmm, sounds like i'm gonna use the electric pump. you guys think i should make a seperate switch for it or try and wire it to the ignition?

You can feed it off the ignition "hot" wire, but it also needs to run from there thru an impact switch before going to the fuel pump. The impact switch will kill the power to the pump if you get into an accident.

And that inertia switch can be found on most Ford vehicles for the past 25 years. By that, I mean it should be free-ish in a salvage yard.
