Hi all, I am brand new here. When I check the voltage for the fuel pump on my 1989 B2 stock 2.9L I see 12.05 volts for about 3 seconds, and then it reads 6.77 volts. This is right on the connector that plugs in on the tank. The connector is unplugged from the fuel pump, and I'm not cranking the engine. Is the 6.77 volt reading normal? Any info would be appreciated.

That is normal to high.
Fuel system functions like this:
Key on, computer commands the pump on for 3 to 5 seconds to prime and then shuts them off. After the priming the pump is run off of the pip signal for the ignition system. That way if the engine stalls due to lack of fuel (such as a ruptured fuel line) the fuel pump will shut off.
