I thought I would share a solution to a problem I have been having on my 2002 3.0L manual transmission Mazda B3000. The car would start instantly when cold just like a new car (I've got 133K on the clock). However, after it came up to temp and I stopped at a store for 15 minutes or so the truck would crank forever before restarting. If I held the gas to the floor (like a flooded car) it would restart quicker but would still crank for quite a while. It turned out to be a part called the Fuel Pressure Damper (Standard Motor Products FPD17) which is a cylindrical device in the fuel rail near the schroeder valve (to check fuel rail pressure) that has a vacuum line going to it. Easy job to change, bleed down the fuel pressure, remove the snap ring and remove and replace the device. Now the truck starts when hot as quick as it starts cold. I've been chasing this problem for quite a while so I thought I would share with the forum.

Good info

Thanks :)

I assume that vacuum hose had gasoline in it which caused the warm start issue
