Fuel line...what are my options?

Due to my own inpaitence and aggravation i just FUBAR'ed my fuel line from the filter the motor on rusty #2 (87 Ranger 2.9 2wd/5sp).

What are my options? Plug and play as possible.

Yes. The ends are fine.

It snapped off right where the metal barb stops where it goes into the fuel rail.

Cut the nylon from around the barbs and replace it? Should be able to get some stainless sheathing that will fit over it. The length you'd need should be available as a repair kit.

Can i just cut the nylon off the barb and slide the nylon part back on?

It broke literally right at the barb. Also how do you get the hose back on the barb? Get it hot?

Boil the nylon. Then move QUICK. Barb should be cold. Maybe put it in the freezer. And when I say quick I mean it. Less than a minute to get it together. I used and old pan on the stove to boil some water and hold the line into it.

This is the best way...

I've seen a caulk gun used to push things together also. Clamp the line in a Flaring Tool vise... push it together with the caulk gun.

ive never dealt with nylon EFI line before.

Boil the nylon. Then move QUICK. Barb should be cold. Maybe put it in the freezer. And when I say quick I mean it. Less than a minute to get it together. I used and old pan on the stove to boil some water and hold the line into it.

Would a heat gun get it hot enough?

I can boil water to obviously...just checking on options

The water is better. More even heating. Won't bubble the line. And I think some kind of chemical reaction with the nylon too. That may only apply to new nylon parts though. I know we used several water baths for large nylon parts at work.

Heat gun can get it too hot too fast.

I'd suggest replacing the big hunk of metal at the outlet end of the fuel line, using something like in the picture would be incredibly virtuous.

Wait a minute. That's not a 3.0l. The 3.0l was supposed to replace the 2.9l.
