Having a bit of a conundrum while replacing my fuel rail gasket.

When I pulled the fuel rail, the injectors stayed in the lower intake. I've blown all the debris out of there (I did plug the intake runners first!) and soaked a couple of the bores in WD 40 to no avail. The injectors spin really easy though

Is there a special trick to this? I want to replace the O-rings while I'm there (chasing a weird warm-restart-only vacuum leak, hence the repair work)...

I was going to suggest WD40 because that's what's always worked for me in the past, but you've already gone down that road. Usually at that point I can lift them right out.

I'm tempted to open up the fingers on my mini-slide hammer claw... but I don't know if the aluminum o-ring lip can take the abuse. As thin as it is, I'm not sure. I do know that side hammers are used for diesel injectors at least.

Slide hammer did the trick. Slightly messed up the o ring retainer lips on a couple of the more stubborn ones, but I think I can straighten it. If it even matters, since the o-ring sealing surface is fine.

Reassembled with new O-rings and gasket. Was able to start it up and verify no obvious issues (no spraying fuel or the like). I can't really drive it at the moment though because of another project that has it out of commission.
