I have an 84 ranger with a 2.8l v6, with fuel delivery problems. Does this truck have a fuel filter in the fuel tank?? thanks

yes it does have a filter in the tank, it's fairly coarse though. The fuel delivery system on those is pretty basic, just a couple of pipes and a mechanical pump. Should be not too hard to diagnose.

it has a rather coarse screen in the tank on the bottom of the pick up and a filter on the carb.

I would suspect the pump before the screen in the tank.

Fuel Delivery

AKA Sock Filter. Also make sure there are no cracked fuel lines or loose hose clamp connections. The rubber lines have a tendancy to harden and crack/split.

Well as it turned out the fuel pump sucked literally. It was sucking up air into the fuel line. Replaced the fuel pump and no more air in my fuel filter!

i had the same problem. replaced the fuel pump and still had the problem. it was the filter in the gas tank. i just got rid of it and put in one of those clear plastic inline filters. works fine now.
