Fuel Filter

Hey I have a 99 3.0 xlt ranger with a screwed up fuel filter. The push connector closest to the gas tank is bent up and dented in. The front connector is just fine and detaches as it should. The back connector doesn't come off at all. Any help?

I want to replace the filter but it's like it's jammed into the fuel line. Moves about 1/16 of an inch and can't budge it any more. I don't want to use the old one since it's in such bad shape.
