Fuel Filter

Curious about the fuel filter on a 2.8. Looks like it is a small one that screws into the carb. I would like to add an inline one like this...

But it is a hard line that goes to the carb and have not tracked it yet to see when it goes soft. What kind of options do I have or what have you guys done?

Line from the (mechanical) fuel pump to carb should be flared w/ fittings. Line from the tank to fuel pump is rubber fuel line and you can install a second filter there. I picked an off-the-shelf in-line from AutoZone (any one will do as long as the fuel line fits snug over the in/out on the filter). Clamp the line ends to the filter, and make sure you install it correctly...the filter is directional.

I put my second filter near the steering gearbox.
