Front tow hook replacement?

Greetings!
I've got an '02 Ranger, 4.0 4X4.
I'm looking for ideas and/or information about installing a hitch receiver in place of my tow hooks;
I'd like to have a 2" receiver up front too, and i'd like to have it attached directly to the frame for strength. I'd be happy to remove the tow hooks completely, as well as the bar the tow hooks are attached to.
So, ideas, suggestions, questions; let's have 'em.

Easiest is a bolt on front receiver hitch from a company like Hidden Hitch. Your 02 takes #65024.

A cheaper way might be to get a used 2" hitch from a junkyard, cut it down and weld it between the frame rails.

I made one out of 2" heavy wall box tubing and a 2" receiver, anything is possible with a welder and a chop saw. It also makes a cool way to mount your license plate when the receiver isnt in use.
