What could possibly cause both sides of the front swaybar to separate from the links?
My sister found both ends of the front sway bar hanging down on her truck. Looking at the top of the link with a mirror, it looks like there is a stub of a stud inside the link. Bottom of the link seems secure.
The exploded view I found suggests that the stud passes all the way through the link and is secured top and bottom with a bushing and nut. I wonder why the stud didn't fall out the bottom when the top came unglued.
When we did the ball joints last fall, the sway bar was connected to the links OK. The only thing done after that was an alignment at the local dealer. Do they undo the links as part of an alignment?
It seems weird that both ends would be loose. I would have thought that if one end broke, the other end would not see any loading and thus would have no reason to break.
Any thoughts welcome
