Front springs

Are the factory front springs the same on both 2wd and 4wd for generation 1 Rangers?

I think you can interchange them.

I know the leveling coils offered can be.

I'd say the difference between 2wd and 4wd coils from the factory are spring rate.

I think if you swap 2wd springs onto a 4wd truck, it will lift it some (~2") due to the difference in beam design.

No, the coils are designed the same length. Any differences will be in spring rate (Supercab trucks being stiffer, 4cyl std-cabs obviously being lighter/softer).
However if you put a stiffer coil in place of a lighter one, it will lift it.
