rebuilt my front end on my project truck and went to use 4wd and me and my buddy noticed an unpleasant ticking sound. We discovered that the axle is free floating. The spindle locking nut system is nice and tight, i purchased new locking nut systems for both sides. The small snap ring is also i stalled. Please help. Here is a video.

Are you using the original Auto Hubs or are they Manual hubs

In either case there should be a "jezeus" clip(c-clip that goes flying off when you try to remove it and you say "JEZEUS" and then try to find it, lol)
Its holding the axle out all the way so it can't slide back in, you are missing that clip

This is an article about upgrading to manual hubs but has pictures of Auto Hub removal: https://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/howto_hubswap.shtml
