today a friend asked me if he install a powertrax locker will he need to switch from auto hubs to manual?

im unsure on this matter because ive never had a front locker and never broken hubs.

looked in the tech section didnt see anything.

im assuming he does.

from what i know a locker makes both axle ends spin the same and the hubs lock the wheel to the axle rod.

The hubs won't make a difference. They only engage when you go into four wheel drive. What year truck is it? One of my 4x4s has vacuum hubs and they work well. I did however scrap the non working junko automatic hubs on my B4000 because they are well JUNK. I put a set of WARN manuals on it.

he didnt specify the rig. but im assuming its his 1988 pathfinder cuz it has 33s and a body lift on it. my hardbody has auto hubs and ive never had a problem with them

you shouldn't HAVE to.... unless the locker puts more stress on the front end and you'll keep burning thru hubs, which is possible lol. Auto hubs are weaker...

and actually the pathfinder auto hubs have always sucked with my dealings, they won't stay locked... meaning a locker won't help much with auto junk hubs

idk what it is about the auto hubs on my hardbody ive seen my mom floor the truck in a bog. 4 low and first gear. she found a trench which made the ass end go up and the dog fly out of the bed. when it slammed down the front came off the ground and that was about 5 years ago. ive heard some stress pops and such from putting it in 4 low on a hill but thats about it.
