Front Axle U-Joints

In my 93 Explorer. Trying to replace my front 3 axle joints. I bought the ones from Poly Performance for a 79-95 4x4 truck (caps to small) and i have 297 joints here (1/8" too wide for clip). Do i have some POS front D35? This is with like 3 different sets of shafts too.

Whats the problem? You can't get the clips on the caps once the joint is installed? Are the ears on the shaft bent inwards?

Or did a needle bearing lay down inside one of the caps?

Shafts are good. I did get one on. I had to squeeze it together with balljoint press until i couldn't turn the ratchet any more. The joint does pivot tho, so i might be ok.

Got them all done. What a pain. Next time im taking them to a machine shop.

how did you get the old universal joints out?

Ball joint press on 2. The rest of the shafts someone gave me, none had ujoints.

I find that using a ball joint press has a tendency to bend the ears of the axle shafts inwards a little bit. I find it much easier and quicker just to bang them in and out with nothing more than a bench vise and a 32oz ballpein hammer.
