Can someone help me identify my front Axle?

Its a 1996 4.0 XLT cab 4x4... is it a Dana 28 or 35?

Also would the front axle shafts be rebuild-able on this thing? I am having a hard time find the parts or complete half shafts so does that mean i should be just rebuilding them and putting new u joints in?

Its squeaky and crunching really good in the front when in 4x4 mode.

Post a photo of it. I can't see what it looks like from here....lol

ok ill snap a pic when i get home, but my main consern is... can i rebuild this shafts or do i have to by new ones?? the joints all all rusted out and loose.

you can change out the u-joints, but that's about it

well i guess its worth a try anyone have a ruff idea how much they are to replace the whole shaft... hunting around on ebay they are not to many on there.

try a junkyard or look in the classifieds section here. i'm pretty sure i saw some in there. it would be way cheaper than buying new

Buying new would be a waste of money, you can go to a junkyard and find shafts if you need them.

Sent from road while ignoring traffic

Only thing wrong with buy used is they may not last very long. If you don't know enough about them take a buddy along who knows a lot about the shafts and what to look for. I hate to see you waste money and then have to do it all over again in a few months. Most scrape yards are honest and will help you with your purchase.

Destroyer93 has a set of shafts for sale...I think he was asking like 65 + the ride.
