Hi all, I’ve got a 2000 XLT 3.0l 4x4 for my son last year as a small project. We dropped the front axel and the bolt heads for the two bolts that secure the axel to the axel mount are a little rounded. I’d prefer to replace them however, I can’t find them in any exploded diagrams to get a part number.

I’ll try to attach pics, anyone know what the part number is for these?

welcome to the forum.

those bolts are like that from the factory.
the big nut plate is pressed/placed on then then a die is forced down which peels some metal. that puts a lip against the plate that holds them on.
the bolt head is not rounded under the plate.
those plates are extremely hard steel and can take a lot of torque.

the nuts might be a friction fit, those are smashed out-of-round to self-lock. you can tell by looking for marks. plus the bolts easily starts one side but not the other.

the hole on the passenger side mount is supposed to be round.

while you're at it, that engine needs to have the cam sync unit pulled and examined for gear wear.
