Recently purchased a 98 Ranger 4x4 that was lifted on the cheap. Both the front and intermediate parking brake cables are missing. I've been able to find and order both of the cables, but have not found the piece that connects them together. None of the Ford dealer sites have the parts diagram to show how they conntect. Does anyone have a photo or know the part number for the piece that connects them together?

I'll try to get a picture of my the connections on my '99 this evening if nobody else can get one sooner.

I don't think it can be bought, most likely need to find it at a yard. it's called an "equalizer" It's a bad design anyway. the front cable pulls the left, the left pulls the right.
I think the F150 cable connector would work. I've not tried it yet. looks like this.

Fastpakr, Thank you very much.

Denisefwd93, the photos you posted are for connecting the intermediate cable to the 2 rear brake cables. The piece I am looking for is the one that connects the Front Parking brake cable to the intermediate cable. Thank you for taking the time to post those photos.

Oh, my bad I know exactly what you mean it's just a little thing I'll look for it.

I think this is what you're looking for

2 types I remember now the skinny black one is really hard to get the cables into, we went with the larger one https://www.summitracing.com/part...hq7UTe4pQK8EIUMj_NpFGtjz1D32yHRoCQCoQAvD_BwE

Rockauto sells the cables with the snap lock things. I don't know about lifts but I thought sometimes the OE cables are to short for lifted trucks.

DeniseFWD thank you very much I just ordered them. I really appreciate your help

Modelageek thank you for the photos, that really helps show how they connect. I have a couple of those on the rear brake cables that attach to the intermediate cable but I wasn't sure if they were the same thing that connects the front cable to the intermediate cable. Yeah I'm not sure if it broke or was just too short after the cheap lift. That is one of the reasons I am trying to return it to stock height. Well and the fact that I'm old and fat so have a hard time getting in it with it lifted.

Sorry for the delay - are there any more pictures you'd like? I should be working on mine today so just let me know.

Fastpakr, I appreciate your time, but I think I've got it figured out.

Okay I've figured out the intermediate cable to the front cable, but how does the intermediate cable connect to the left and right brake cables. DeniseFWD posted that the intermediate cable pulls the left side cable and the left side cable pulls the right cable. I am just not understanding how this all goes together. Does anyone have a photo of those connections?

This is from my 04 but I remember my 99 had the exact same setup. Go to a junkyard with some wire cutters.

I just noticed my cable sitting on the leaf spring, so I moved the protective cover back over it, taped it in place and pulled it up with a ziptie

put a small u-clamp on all 3 where they meet! When they are all the right adjustment tighten clamp and add another? LOL

Thank you both for the photos and the suggestions. I have got to get under it and see if the spring and the piece it connects to are still there. I think the side piece is there, but not sure about the spring. I've got a selection of springs so I can probably replace it. DeniseFWD and modelgeek your help is greatly appreciated. I am trying to get it on the road so it has to pass inspection. I'm in the process of moving about 45 miles away and having it on the road will help a great deal. Thanks again.
