I've seen a few nice looking air-dams out there, but has anyone found them to result in better gas mileage and stability?

What make, and where'd you get it?

Thanks!

Don't really think an air dam / bumper cover will give you any type of mileage increase. The rangers starting with the Gen III's look aerodynamic enough but any truck is basically a brick. Get the smoothest air dam, lower it as far as possible, completely flatten & seal the underside, cover the bed, smooth out any rough shapes and you may get 2 more MPG.

Decent mileage is possible depending what you do to the truck as a whole. Thinner oil, keep it tuned up with the best possible products, drive the speed limit etc....

Our trucks are well, trucks. I was worried last summer about gas mileage but if you spend enough time looking at this and the other forums you won't get exceptional changes because it's a truck.

Just enjoy it for what it is, fix it up and show it off!! :icon_thumby:

maybe a bed cover would help more, they are supossed to minimize turbulence in the bed

I entend on doing "all of the above". I don't consider my '97 to be a freeway vehicle. It does ok, but I'm going to start traveling between West Texas and the Gulf...a few times per year. I'd thought of replacing it for a Focus or something, but these days the cost of used autos are high.

So, I've decided it makes more sense to spend money on my Ranger. It's a good little truck and has 131k.....long way to go. The speedlimit on I-10 is 80.

I bought a body kit that looks promising with minor modifications. I will need to lower the back to make the truck level....anybody know of any particular type?
