ah, that gearset will buff right out...
how does your cooling system do on a normal hot day driving? it's going to get hotter in 4wd because it is under more load (and usually at a lower speed getting less airflow across the radiator), but you could have cooling issues like a bad thermostat or a plugged radiator or a rusted out water pump.
depending on where you are in WA, I'm in Tigard Oregon and have a free 2.9L radiator that did just fine with my turbo 2.3, I just took it out to upgrade to a extreme duty explorer radiator...
