Frantz Bypass Oil Filter System - Thoughts?

So it turns out the 4.0l SOHC is a sonofabitch to put an oil cooler on without a oil filter relocation kit.

So while trawling the summit catalog, i found this:

Apparently it is a 1 micron filter that.... blah blah blah most of you probably know what a bypass system is.

Am I crazy for the following idea:

Instead of risking my lubrication system by building a convoluted oil filter relocation system with a thermostat, etc. to instead just use this filter system to run an oil cooler?

Granted, it only siphons ~10% of the total oil out of the system for the bypass filter, but the idea is to install the bypass on the oil pressure sensor line, and run the returns out in front of the AC condenser on a small tube and fin cooler before returning it into the valve covers? The only drawback I can see is no thermostatic control, but this truck does not see cold weather use, and its only 10% of the oil supply.

I dont know. I'm probably overthinking stuff, as usual.

I know @gw33gp runs a bypass oil system on his 4.0L SOHC. I know he's sold on the system in general. Not sure but he may have something to add here.

AFAIK they are pretty much the same engine bay.

those are coolant lines. it basically sandwiches a coolant coil between the block & filter.
a similar cooler was used on 89-95 Taurus SHOs with the 3.0 & 3.2 engines.

check out remote kits for older big block Fords.

Well that makes a lot more sense. I figured it was some sort of convoluted ford sandwich plate. Now I see it's just one more place to mix oil and coolant together in a Cologne engine.

part of my stash in the basement, been there since the late 80s?
it sends the oil out to a cooler then returns and goes thru the filter.

I have one similar here... issue with the SOHC is thwres nowhere to squeeze a sandwich plate between the manifold and the frame. It's a precise hole just big enough for your fingers and a filter. Cramped under there tbh.

I tried a few years ago to do it with Amazon parts, but couldn't clear the manifold with a mishimoto thermostatic plate. Only solution I came to back them was a total relocation. Hence the idea with the bypass, would avoid a filter relocation, gain a cooler, and a bypass as a bonus. Idk if 10% of the oil being cooled will amount to a healthy pee in the ocean, but I digress.
