Happend to have my bed off today and though while it was off I'd wire brush my slighty rusty frame and paint it some how. What should I use? Something that can hold up to the winter salt at least for a few years

How long any paint job lasts depends on surface prep, get rid of all the rust, grease you can. I've used an Epoxy enamal made for frames and undercarrage. Something like POR is said to be good, can take a hammer to it and it doesn't chip.

use a good brush on rust converting paint like sliver bullet or por 15 if you want the best. They require much less prep work, but are a little expensive. Amazing products though.

wirebrush what you can, get the loose chunks out. most parts stores will have rust stripper, (never used it, but i assume it works like paint stripper for wood) or you can use rusty metal primer.....obviously, it's made to help paint stick to rusty metal. then you can do a top coat of rubberized undercoating, enamel, herculiner or whatever else you wanna use

POR 15... but for the love of god be sure to wear old clothes, and cover up all your skin with it... There's a kid who goes to my school who POR15'd his S10... wore shorts and a T-shirt, with no mask or anything... took him a week and a half to get it off.
