Downey, you shoulda run over to Spook with me this afternoon, prolly coulda saved me a headache and a half.

I must ask because I really love the gen 1 + 2 rangers, who's gen 2 stx is that? I remember reading about I think in one of your other posts... Great thread.

the STX is my younger brothers, he got it for $800 a couple of years ago. the previous owner had gotten in some trouble and needed bail money so his mom put the truck up for sale and my brother just happened to be driving by when it was out to the road and was able to snatch it up. since then weve done alot of work to it and im happy with the directon its heading in.

Had been reading & looking at pics for more then 3 hrs & during that time comp froze times & I only got to page 7. Will finish during the week. Very awesome detailed resurrection. You deserve to be reimbursed for the cost of your shirt & TRS windshield sticker ,just because your being so detailed on your build & up to date on keeping everyone excited with your pics of your ongoing project . Should be a long lasting Ranger after all you have done to it. Great job, cant wait to see it when completely finished

thanks for the comments guys, to answer your question about the STX, no it doesnt have a build thread, yet. ive got all the pictures in a photo bucket file so when i get around to it ill make one up and hopefully my brother will maintain it afterwards. as for my self ive been laying kind of low lately, mostly due to the fact that ive been saving up my money instead of spending it, but heres the latest news on Thumper. the new subs are still on hold but ive been slowly buying new tires one at a time once i get enough saved up. so far i have got 3 of them, so i just need to come up with another $275 to get 2 more.
originally i was going to buy a set of 30x9.50x15 cooper discoverer st, the same ones terrra has on her sport trac, but after getting jerked around by kan rock tire for 3 days i decided to see what discount tires price was for their 30x9.50x15 bgf all terrains. to my suprise they were only $5 more a piece than the coopers and they had a full set in stock, so i drove over there on my lunch break and picked up 2 of them. when i got back to work i brought my wheels with the MTs on them and my new pair of ATs to the shop next door (the only people i trust other than myself to touch any part of my truck) and had them dismount, mount, and balance them.
when i got the wheels with the new tires on them back to the store i was cleaning up the wheels and noticed a gash in the side wall of one of the tires so i rolled it back to the shop and had them check it out. the tire guy said it looked like a screw driver blade had been intentionally stabbed into it, so he dismounted it and i took it back to discount, except they closed at 6 and i had to work till 7, so i had to make the trip again the next day. the next day i returned the tire, they said it was a mold defect and it was rare thing that happened (like 1 in 1000 chance), so they swapped me out for a good one and i purchased another new one. now that weve got all that reading out of the way, heres the pics:

nice tires man!! i really like the look of that skid plate too, looks really nice.
great job man:icon_thumby:

Just out of curiosity... why didn't you go with a 31's? Not that the 1" is a whole pile of difference, just wondering is all. Those tires look good on there, I think!

there was about a $25 difference and im guessing they weigh even more than the 30s (65lbs each with the wheels), so that would have made my milage even worse. im hoping to swap in an 8.8 with 4.10 gears this summer if my funds allow me to. ive only got 1 more year to live at my parents house before i get the boot so i gotta start saving for a down payment soon!

Ahhhhh, I hear ya. Well the 30's still look good on there!

thanks guys, i think it looks goofy with the MTs on the front and the ATs on the back, but since these things like to chew up front tires i figured id feed my MTs to the ttb before sacrificing the new ATs, at least until i get one more AT, then ill have a full set and i can keep one MT for a spare.
