Ya know if you're really wanting to stay busy you could fab up another one of those bumpers for me. :icon_thumby:

Looking good, mate. Everything wiill work out. Just keep working to pass the time 'til it finally does.

i got the lights wired in for good last night, man are they bright! i agree that they are in a vulnerable spot but theyre only temporary, once i get the steel for the rear bumper i will be recessing a pair of lights into it so they will be protected. tomorrow im going to do the final phase of the wiring and run acc. power to the last toggle switch for my back up lights. i need to add in another 4 place fuse block i order to supply any more add ons, so im estimating a few hours of wiring are in my future.

so how much would it cost me for you to build me one of those bumpers with out the bars just the bottom part? seriously.....

i would have had about $275-325 in materials alone for the front bumper (i made it out of stuff i had laying around), not including the skid plate. i dont know how much id charge to make one, if i would have made it all at once i would have had a good 12 hrs into it if not more (more time including the fitting and template making.

heres pics of yesterdays progress, its not much but i was feeling depressed and didnt get into the garage until 1:30 ish. i dragged out the air hose and sand blaster and set my wheels up on the garbage can so i could get redy to blast them and then i went inside for a min while the air compressor filled up. i had a sudden brain fart when i got in the basement and i forgot why i went inside. i remebered that i wanted to to winterize my bike before it actually was winter, so i dragged it out and started it up. i checked the gas and then decided that rather than drain a gallon or so of gas out and pour it in the fire pit i would just ride it out. i havent had that much fun all year! i really regret only riding it one other time this year but hopefully next year will have more riding instore for me. soon i will be building a bed brace/ wheel chock for my bike so i can tie it down in the bed without creasing the front of it.

once i was done playing with my bike it was about 3:30 and i really needed to make some progress on something so i started on the wheels. i didnt think it would be that hard to get the clear coat off the other rim, but it was in pretty good shape and it didnt want to go without a fight. i ran through 160lbs of medium sand and i still need some more to get the rest of the clear off. the backs of the wheels cleaned up real nice and i just need to get some more wax and grease remover so i can wipe them down and paint them.

i havent made too much progress lately, i started cutting the steel for my bike rack/bed brace and i went to the scrap yard and found this ranger badge off from a 70s full size ford truck. i also took my bike for a truck ride to get it some fresh air and ended up at my friends house later that night looking over some details.

i made some more progress on the truck this weekend. it was 67 degrees on sunday so i deicded to take Mountain Mike's advice and paint my roof and fender before winter comes. i also decided to clean up my wiring for my relays as it was starting to get a little messy.

i was hoping to ride my bike but i only had a limited amount of day light to work with, so it just sat on the stand looking pretty.

looks good man how close does the paint match?

its pretty close but its just a bit lighter and more metalic. the OE ford color is lapis metallic and the touch up paint is true blue. its close enough for me and its better than having rusted metal and primer showing. its only temporary thouhg, till i get a real paint job so fawk it. i forgot my camera at work so i didnt get any pics, but i spent 55 min of my 1 hour lunch trying to figure out why my horn quit working. I pulled the fuse and it was good, so i checked that i was getting 12v in the fuse panel, and i was. i pulled the steering wheel pad to make sure the connectors were still attached and they were. i got my multimeter out and checked that i was getting 12v on the pos side and checked continuity on the ground and it was good. i depressed the horn switch and checked for continuity between the pos and neg posts on the wheel pad and i had it. im stumped now, the only thing left to do is check the contacts on the back of the steering wheel and make sure that power is passing though it and down the wires on the column...... how frustrating!

That is one extremely useful bumper. It even doubles as a paint can shelf!
