Will the pistons out of a 2.3 turbo thunderbird fit in the 2.3 ranger engine. My ranger engine is a 1989 2.3 4 cylinder engine. I want to turbo it. So any information would be helpful.

Im told the motors are identical but the thunderbird engine block has thicker cylinder walls and has the oil return tube from the turbo on it.

The Tbird 2.3T has forged internals.....something the Ranger 2.3's dont have. They fit...virtually the same exact block. I actually have a Tbird 2.3T short block in my shop that was purchased for it's crank, rods, and pistons.

Go to RPS and check out their boosted section. Or check out TurboRangerForums.

the pistons and a few tapped holes are all that is functionally different, there is speculation on the block, but it's all the same...
