Ford Ranger will return

Ford saw that they weren't making any money off of Rangers. The last major upgrades were the front suspension in '98, then the Duratec engine after 2001. Look at the links posted above, and in 2002 it was something like 118k f-150's to 33k Ranger's being sold. It seems to me that they tried again with the FX4 LVLII packages in what, 2006-2008? And it obviously didn't save sales.

do a full remodel, the sales will come back... not a change the hood change the grill, change the badges bullshit... give it a full redesign and new engine lineup, people will buy rangers again, gauranteed! but, they won't do it for atleast a few years...

this really makes me want to go to south america and go buy a global ranger... i took a look at the canadian laws, it is possible for someone to get a "brand new" vehicle from south america into canada, it's just difficult and rather expensive... but i would LOVE to have the only global ranger in north america... we shall see what happens if my dad moves to peru... might have to buy a vehicle and have him drive it for 6 months

since the F-series line is already two completely separate truck lines, i doubt they would bring the ranger back in the form of another F-series truck line. Doing so would completely counter the entire reason the ranger was eliminated.

Forget about there ever being a new ranger. speculating isn't going to change Fords mind, it's already been made up.

I've always felt that if they bring it back, it will be an F-Series. Then they can lump the number in with F-Series sales to be further ahead of the competition. I think they are hearing footsteps.

Just my opinion though.

This PLUS keep it a full frame. No unibody garbage.

The 4.6 gets better mileage than the 5.0 because it weighs less and makes more power. But in the F-150 it doesn't really do much better than the 5.4L. The 4.2 actually sucks down the gas if you are towing with it. At the same time, you can't get a 4.6 in an F-250. It would suck the fuel down too.

The old 5.0 (pushrod) :icon_thumby:

Also shaping their trucks like a brick with the only aerodynamic thought being the slanted back windshield probably didn't help the old 5.0's much either...

I doubt they could lump a compact F-XXX truck in with the fullsizes, the competition would cry foul for sure. Currently I think they are only counting F-150/250/350.

Did they just stop production of Rangers in the US? I doubt they stopped making them everywhere.

The ranger as we know it is gone... The "global ranger" is an entirely different truck, different driveline, power train, frame, suspension, body, interior, the only thing it shares with the n/a ranger is the name and the fact that it's not a full size... The global is actually bigger than the n/a ranger...

It was redesigned in 08? And again in 2011?

The north American ranger stopped production for the 2012 model year, it is no longer sold in us or Canada, I believe Mexico got the global, but don't know for sure...

Sent from somewhere naughty!

to the OP..........

it is not going to happen in the near future. my Kids will have kids before the Ranger comes back to North America.

To Weezl ...... I hate the Chinese global POS. There will never be one sitting in my driveway. While I was out looking at Mustangs yesterday I saw a Super Crew ecoboost F150 called "Black Ops" that is kinda interesting.... but it is nearing the Raptor in price and I would rather have a Mustang.

i bet it will be back before then... if it's not, it NEVER will be

it may be back as a package on an F150 but not as a vehicle for atleast 15 years if at all

how is a different truck going to be a package on the f-150?

because Ranger and Explorer used to be packages on the full size trucks...... My first Ford truck was a F100 Ranger and my second was an F250 Explorer......so yeah ..... the name may be back as a package.

that doesn't count... if you're stretching the definition like that, the ranger isn't leaving, it's just re-evaluating it's geographic situation
