The Force is strong with him.

ah ha. a website link. :sorrysign:I didn't see that at first.

Soon it will be January, which means it's time for the automobile manufacturers to debut their new models in Detroit.

....

Question is, what do you think?

Well, Ralph Nair swore that the Bronco wouldn't be a North American Everest under his time...but then he is no longer with Ford.

Troller prototyped 4 door T4s, so the possibility of the Brazilian SUV was what I was thinking was coming...but then there were the rumours of distention in the design (engineering versus marketing? Troller vs Everest??)

Talking with my local sales rep - she wants a body on frame SUV between Explorer and Expedition (And I have to admit, Everest would hit that hole...).

Given I have a 2001 Explorer Sport; what I am hoping to see, is a Troller T4 offered in 2 and 4 door models, so I can buy the 2 door model (and I will take a manual, thank you).

So, I am anxiously waiting.:popcorn:

just a cursory look at reported data readily available.

the trace of leadership at ford the last 10 years makes for some serious unpredictability in product development....but one thing is common across the industry....

driverless-

the beginning of the end there will be limited alteration from as delivered by the end user...epa has already dug dirt on that. whether we like it or not.

powertrain development by the r@d interanl and external looks like hybrid for the vast majority from here forward...the 10 speed is looking to be the last of hydro.

if i am fortunate enough to make it to 75-80... my vehicle as it exists now, will be outlawed from any use..not just public route use. something just one year ago i thought impossible. and not for the reasons most would think.

but.. hub motors and planetary gearng will be awesome to play with off road.:3gears: its not all bad.

so...

the hybrid / modular platforms will start with this new explorer setup. the ability to be front/rear or awd has obvious benefits... its not the same as the everest from the row platform to this point. does not mean the everest is not adopting the modular setup from here forward though. seems likely.
