Ford Focus Grill Guard

Looking good lol, keep it up

I have to cut off the two inside tubes and separate them by 14-3/4", then weld the center tube into place and it will create the grill guard, the rest is the bumper. To cover the lower bumper I will use sheet metal and angle iron to reinforce it.

I will be adding lights to the grill and maybe a 1500lb winch I have laying around. (no real need for a winch, just look neat).

Im going to work on lifting the body of the focus by 1-1/2" and put aggressive-solid tires on it ($235 a piece). I am thinking of longer coils and a larger strut up front. Then welding some support braces on the swing arms.

That thin walled tubing isnt going to protect the grille from anything, except maybe some tall grass. If you run into so much as a chipmunk or a squirrel that will bend.

Its made from exercise equipment, its a little over 1/8" thick

I'm going to judge you like I judge women buying condoms at the grocery store. Your car is going to have herpes.

Almost half done.

The top half is about complete, working on bottom parts design now

You, sir are giving us here rednecks a bad name with that piece of scrap metal ziptied to that lil focus. You'd be better off using a piece of 4x4 with Git-R-Dun wood burned into it.

:D

looks like a weak excersize equipment was the donor of its metal. I doubt that that will do much for protection as its thin metal & you butt welded the sections together with out sleeving them.

Cmon rose, I could be wrong but this cannot turn out that bad lol. Crown vic police interceptors have guards so why can't this guys focus, it might look nice

Because they are made for the vehicle and look good...this is fugly....

are the handles for lifting it out of the ditch? lol!

they are being removed, and Im cutting slits in the corners for side-lamps (turn signals).

This is the first of a kind, so designing a grill on my budget for a Focus isn't very easy, keep this in mind. :icon_thumby:

I did do a fillet weld on both sides for protection, but to be realistic to it, its more for looks than it is for protection, I dont think it would do anything since the ONLY point for it to mount onto the car is the original bumper which is design to crush inward.

So I just believe a metal bumper with a grill guard would look nicer than a plastic one.
