Ford Escape is truely not a bad SUV. Even my mom was considering to trade-in the Chevy Blazer for one. I naturally put a stop to that. No, not because I like Chevys'. Because I like actually frames on 4x4 vehicles. But any who, she still drives the Blazer and I drive the Ranger. Now its me looking at the new Subura Forster, but never to trade-in with my Ranger.

I don't know what everyone's experience is with Escapes but as a Ford Trans tech, I have overhauled many, many CD4E's. IMHO, the trannys are absolute crap. The early models had catastrophic engine failure's as well. The later models ( '05 and newer ) are better and the new '08's are the best.

Also seen quite a few PTU and rear viscous coupler failures.
