ford 9" rear end

Thanks good tips.

one issue I live on a Island. have to stick with common parts

looking at F150. dana44 and 8.8 from same vech.

gears match.

bolt pattern is 5.5 all round.

and go wider fiberglass fenders.

service and part availabiity is good for F150 on the island.

what you think.??

Well not all 9 inches are fullwidth... you get get one from an early bronco... the only thing i see as an issue is that the lug pattern is different.

I have one. Its 3" wider than a F-150 rear end?:dunno:

Go with a 9".. It isn't worth the time to swap a 8.8".

I am going to a full size bronco 9" and reworked D-44 beams.

It's not from an Early Bronco then...the 9" axles that came in those are significantly narrower than one from an F150. Like by 5" or so.

One thing to keep in mind is that there are a LOT of variations of 9" axles... 28 spline, 31 spline, big bearing, small bearing, etc etc... know what you're buying first. Also a large number of cars came with the Ford 8" axle too which is somewhat easy to confuse with a 9" since they both are fabricated housings with removable 3rd members.
