fog lights behind grill

yellow lights low and normal headlights will create the effect.

the effect is much more pronounced if you have high mounted lights,
but it isn't strictly necissary.

If you want to light up a WIDE AREA the higher you mount the lights the better.
But you've gotta use the right kind of lights.

for educational purposes you should connect the different types of lights
to a battery at night and wave them around like a flashlight.

this will give you an instant appreciation of the actual beam pattern.

Classic "Offroad lights" are like a broad spotlight.
"Driving lights" are a somewhat narrower spotlight
"Pencil beams" are exactly as the name implies

While GOOD fog lights throw out a relatively narrow band of light
Which is why they work best for FOG mounted as low as you can get them.

ever notice that foglights mounted on over the road trucks are generally
mounted under the bumper?
Even though they know they are vulnerable down there....
Because they frankly don't work worth a damn (IN FOG) if mounted high.

good god, can you make a single post that doesn't bore the crap out of people after the first sentence so they dont read the rest of your novel? i just asked a simple question to which you still have not answered so to make this quick your posts are useless to me

:icon_confused: If it bores the crap out of you quit reading what he says. He's full of useful information that you seem to be blind to. You said this in your first post:im just looking for ways to mount them up in mine. He's told you the best places to mount lights and what kind to use. If you're that worried about mounting the lights on your mall crawler then just do it.

I vote you drill out two 1/2 inch holes into your windshield just below the roof line. Thread the mounting bolts into the glass, but BE SURE to use a rubber hose washer or the glass may crack when you tighten them.

Or was this not the type of help you wanted?

Someone gives you good advice and you complain about having to read it...:bawling:

i know all i need about the fog lights, driving lights, etc. the ONLY thing i asked was how people have mounted them behind the grill. quote any info from any of the posts that answers that question

If you're that deadset on putting them behind your grille figure it out. Allan gave you great information about how to and where to mount them to be the most functional.

I am mounting a set behind my grill for show only, but i'm also adding other lights for off road function too. You'll figure out how to mount em. Take the grille off and stair at it for a bit and look around. You'll figure out what works best for you.I think Allan took your question a bit out of context. Are you adding these for function or style? Ity's your truck and you can put lights any where you want! If someone here lectures you, ignore them. Do as you wish with your truck! Not everything on a truck needs to be about function only!

I'm gonna mount foglights in my headlight area and mount my headlights in my foglights.....

:-)
